Step into the heartwarming world of Mza, a culinary venture deeply rooted in family, flavour, and a profound purpose. It all began in a bustling city, where the aroma of home-cooked meals drifted through the house of a family of seven. Watching my mother deftly layer spices while preparing meals, I learned the art of crafting flavourful curries.

Fast forward to the late 80s, I was then a junior doctor, juggling hectic schedules and long shifts, relying on quick meals and packet spice mixes. Yet, the taste never matched the nostalgia of my mother's home-cooked dishes.

Then came March 2020, when the world changed and so did my outlook on life. A few days after treating a patient who had been to Italy on holiday I became seriously ill. Facing my own mortality opened my eyes and I felt like I had done nothing in my life to 'make a difference'. Locked down and seeking solace in cooking, I began experimenting with spices, receiving glowing reviews from family and friends. As I became bolder and braver I started cooking for bigger parties and was delighted with such positive feedback! Calling on the wisdom of my mum and sisters, they taught me how to use the spices in the old fashioned way reviving traditional spice techniques, sparking the birth of 'Mza'. The name Mza comes from the initials of my three daughters and also means 'taste' in Urdu.
