How much will it cost you to become a Mza Franchisee?
Our Charges
From our own experience as franchisees, we understand that the first six months of running a business can be especially challenging. High charges during this period can place unnecessary pressure on new franchisees. That’s why we’ve structured our pricing to support you in the early stages.
Royalties
Franchise fee: £1000 (plus VAT). This is for the initial 5 year franchise agreement.
First 6 months: No monthly royalty charged
Months 7–12: £30 per month (plus VAT).
From month 13 onwards: £50 per month (plus VAT).
Starting in your second year, this monthly royalty will increase annually in line with the Retail Price Index (RPI). For example, if the RPI is 4%, the monthly royalty would increase to £52 (plus VAT) in year three and continue to rise accordingly in subsequent years.
🏠 Getting Started: Your Fixed Costs
Starting your Mza home-cooking business doesn't require a big investment. We recommend keeping your initial costs under £1,000. You can use much of what you already have at home. The key is to never compromise on food hygiene and safety.
If you keep your setup lean and make around 10 - 15 sales per week, you could expect to recover your investment within approximately 4 - 6 months.
Spice Kit Charges
Our spice kits are priced per serving. A typical takeaway meal box (500ml, holding approximately 250–350g of food) serves 2 people. On average, customers order three takeaway boxes.
Charge per serving: £0.50 (no VAT)
Spice kit sizes: Serves 2 - £1, Serves 8 - £4
Most of the time, you’ll use the "serves 8" kits. However, if you're cooking a recipe for the first time, we recommend starting with a "serves 2" kit to reduce the risk of ingredient waste in case anything goes wrong.
Postage
We use Royal Mail’s standard second-class delivery (estimated delivery time: 3–5 working days). Most orders qualify as small parcels; occasionally, a large order may be sent as a medium parcel. You will be charged the exact amount that Royal Mail charges us for postage
Your Profit
We recommend keeping your prices competitive with local restaurants and other home cooks. Since your overheads will be much lower than those of a restaurant, you can still enjoy a healthy profit—typically around two to two-and-a-half times your total cost.
